Hero- Usually tells of one person who is related to the gods, and therefore has god-like powers and abilities. Or it can be a person of great courage and strength who has done something heroic.
*
Myth- A kind of story that usually tells about events set in the very distant past. It usually tells of heroes or events. They sometimes do not have logic or have inexplicable questions.
==
Why it is a myth- Myth because this tells of an event. Icarus had no god-like abilities or strength, and he did not do anything heroic. On the contrary, he died because of his inability to pay attention closely, for even though his father told him not to fly close to the sun, he did so anyway.
There is an asteroid that was named after Icarus of Greek mythology.

Purpose: Icarus is used in society to tell how people don't pay attention, and it leads them to their downfall. Many people have an Icarus event in their life, and it is used so next time they do pay attention and so they'll learn from their mistakes.

we like your definitions of what a myth and hero are. We think you could explain a little more and give examples to support your definitions. You should add more links to help enhance your page.
Thank you for the suggestions. We will be adding more examples soon.
Hi Icarus team! The Icarus and Daedalus story is one of my favorites. For examples of allusions to the story, you may want to check out the poem "August from My Desk." It's one we study in class and it alludes to the myth of Icarus. There is also an art piece that depicts Icarus falling to his death.

Thank you for the suggestions. We have added the painting of Icarus, but have not found the poem. We have added other examples of Icarus though.
Spartan group: Very cool guys! You should listen to the song "Flight of Icarus" by Iron Maiden. It has some pretty cool insight about the story and the way it is interpreted. Rock on
